30 minutes from the McKinney studio

The Colony Boudoir Photographer.

The Colony sits on the eastern shore of Lewisville Lake, transformed in recent years by Grandscape and Nebraska Furniture Mart into one of the metroplex's busier retail and entertainment destinations. The city draws younger families and professionals, and its position off Highway 121 makes the drive to our McKinney studio quick and predictable.

The Colony's client base skews younger and family-oriented, with a lot of recent arrivals drawn by newer housing and the Grandscape development. Aesthetic preferences run modern and approachable, and a good share of bookings are tied to maternity, postpartum returns, and anniversary milestones.

The Colony's center of gravity has shifted to Grandscape, with its restaurants, the big-box anchors, and the entertainment venues drawing crowds from across the area. The lakefront and the older neighborhoods keep a quieter, residential feel. Our clients from The Colony often pair a session with the short, easy drive east, and the city's younger demographic shows up in the formats they book.

The Colony clients have closer options toward Frisco and Lewisville, so booking with us is a choice for the editorial direction and the products. The quick 30-minute drive helps, and the studio's maternity and classic formats fit the life stage many of these clients are in. Word of mouth runs strong in the newer neighborhoods.

Maternity and classic boudoir lead from The Colony, with couples and bridal close behind, tracking the city's younger family demographic. Most clients order an album with selective digital files, and wall pieces are added as follow-up commissions after a first session.

From The Colony the route is State Highway 121 to Highway 380 east, or the Sam Rayburn Tollway to 75, around 30 minutes to the West University Drive studio in McKinney. Studio parking is free and dedicated. The drive is short and predictable enough that clients from The Colony often book morning sessions and are home by early afternoon.

The Colony questions

From The Colony clients.

How long is the drive from The Colony?
About 30 minutes via Highway 121 and Highway 380, or the Sam Rayburn Tollway to 75. Studio parking is free and dedicated. The short, predictable drive makes a morning session easy.
I am pregnant and want maternity boudoir. When should I book?
Most maternity sessions land between weeks 30 and 36. We recommend reaching out around 20 weeks to lock a window. Maternity is one of our most-booked formats from The Colony.
Is the session appropriate for a postpartum milestone?
Yes. Many clients book after a birth as a return to themselves. We pace and direct the session around how you feel and where you are, not a performance of it.
What does a session cost?
Session fees start at $399, hair and makeup available, products separate. Most clients invest between $1,000 and $2,000 total.
What does a Marilyn Lou Boudoir session cost in The Colony?
Session fees start at $399 for studio sessions and $549 for location sessions. Hair and makeup is available. Products are purchased separately. Most The Colony clients invest between $1,000 and $2,000 total.
How long is the session for The Colony clients?
Plan on four to five hours start to finish: 60 to 90 minutes of professional hair and makeup, then two to three hours of directed photography across multiple wardrobe changes and setups.
What if I have never done a boudoir session before?
Most clients have not. The studio is designed around the assumption you do not know how to pose, what to wear, or what to do with your hands. Every part of the session is directed.
