Classic session
Classic Boudoir.
Editorial portraiture, polished and unhurried.
Classic boudoir at Marilyn Lou is a two-to-three hour session with professional hair and makeup, custom-designed sets, and an experienced female photographer who directs every pose. Built for women who want timeless, magazine-quality portraits without the cliche tropes.

Classic boudoir is the foundation of the studio. It is the format most clients book first, the one Jen has shot for nearly a decade, and the one the rest of our work is measured against. The session is paced like a portrait sitting, not a photoshoot: deliberate, directed, with room for you to breathe between setups.
We use the studio's natural light and a small selection of artificial sources, but the work is built on direction rather than effects. Every angle of your face, every position of your hands, every breath at the right moment is called out. You do not have to know how to pose. You have to show up.
The wardrobe is yours, ours, or a combination. We send a detailed guide after booking with notes specific to your body, your aesthetic preferences, and the season. Three to five wardrobe changes is typical, with one or two of those drawn from the studio collection.
After your session, you return for a reveal appointment to see the gallery on a large screen, walk through the work together, and choose what becomes album, wall art, or digital files. There is no minimum order and no pressure. Most clients leave with a leather-bound album, a small wall piece, and a digital bundle.
Best for
Who books this session.
- A birthday or milestone gift to yourself
- Anniversary or relationship gift
- Marking a personal chapter: weight loss, divorce, retirement, postpartum
- Building a private album you will come back to in twenty years
What to expect
The session, in order.
Two to three hours of photography
Plus 60 to 90 minutes of professional hair and makeup before the cameras come out. Plan on four to five hours total at the studio.
Three to five wardrobe changes
Most pulled from your own closet using our guide; one or two from the studio collection if you want them.
Mixed setups
We move through three to four lighting and set combinations during the session: bed setups, window light, dark studio backgrounds, and one editorial setup specific to the look you came in for.
Full direction throughout
You will not be left wondering what to do. Every frame is called: where to look, how to position your shoulders, when to breathe out.
Good to know
Things worth knowing before you book.
First-timers are the rule, not the exception
Most classic boudoir clients have never done a session like this. The studio is built around that assumption. Pre-session communication is detailed so you walk in knowing exactly what happens next.
Retouching keeps you looking like you
Light correction, distraction removal, and skin softening where needed. We do not slim, reshape, or swap features. You will recognize yourself in the album.
Privacy is the default
Your images are not shared publicly without a written release. The release is opt-in. Most of our clients quietly keep their work in the family.
Classic boudoir photography in Dallas and Los Angeles
Classic boudoir is the foundation of the studio and the session most first-time clients book. It is editorial portraiture in lingerie, lit and directed for a timeless result rather than a passing trend. If you have searched for a boudoir photographer in Dallas, McKinney, or anywhere across the DFW metroplex, this is the session that anchors the rest. Clients in Los Angeles and Orange County book the same format through the mobile studio.
A classic boudoir session runs two to three hours with multiple wardrobe changes and setups. The direction is identical whether you are nervous or experienced: every pose, hand position, and angle is called out, so the images look intentional rather than candid. You leave with a gallery of forty to sixty frames you can print into a leather album or hang as wall art, made to outlast whatever prompted you to book.

Questions
About the classic format.
- How do I know what wardrobe will photograph well?
- We send a wardrobe guide tailored to your body and the look you described in your inquiry. Brand recommendations are included. You can also borrow from the studio collection on the day.
- Can I bring a friend?
- You can bring someone for the hair and makeup portion. For the photography itself, the studio doors stay locked and the team in the room is just the photographer and the hair and makeup artist. Most clients prefer it that way once they are in.
- How many images will I see at the reveal?
- Forty to sixty fully edited images on average. The gallery is curated, not exhaustive: we show you the work that made it through Jen's edit, not every frame the camera captured.
